Part 1 is the Newsletter which contains articles including: 'Comrades on DVD!' about the recent release by the BFI of the Bill Douglas film of the Tolpuddle Martyrs in which the story is told by a lanternist; a report of the Society's summer meeting on 18 July 2009 in Bath; 'Points of view: capturing the 19th century in photographs' about a British Library exhibition between 30 October 2009 and 7 March 2010; 'An experience of cinematography' by Robert MacDonald about an early Lumiere Cinematographe show; 'Visual delights conference: "Visual Empires"' - a report by Richard Crangle on the event from 3-5 July 2009 at the University of Sheffield; 'Webchat' by Mark Butterworth. Part 2 is the minutes of the business part of the Society's summer meeting in Bath. Part 3 is the agenda for the autumn meeting to be held on 31 October-1 November 2009 at La Cinematheque francaise in Paris. Part 4 gives accounting details for the 2009 Convention. Part 5 relates to members sales and wants which would be available on-line through the Society website rather than in printed form.
