Self bublished book by David M. Ryder on the history of the Empire Cinema in Rawdon, West Yorkshire. The book chronicles the history of the cinema from construction in 1924, to closure in 1956 and demolition in 1964. There are illustrations of lobby cards and programmes from the cinema and photographs of those involved in its story. The book ends with a chapter called 'Growing up in the dark : The Empire in Retrospect', the memories of former patron Reg Wood.
