Article by BDC donor and film-maker Don Boyd on film education in the light of a review of film Policy being conducted by Lord Smith for the government. Boyd talks about the democratisation of film-making through new technology and Internet distribution. He suggests that the government and BFI create a fairer funding system and stresses the importance of teaching filmaking in schools. Part 2 is a response to Don Boyd's article by former head of BFI education Cary Bazalgette from 7 October 2011 (p49) which discusses some of the barriers to film education.
