Detailed study of Muybridge's work in relation to the "instantaneous photography movement", produced to accompany a 2003 exhibition at Stanford University, home to a large Muybridge archive. The book examines his technical progress, the concept of "instant" photography and what it meant to a number of contemporary artists and photographers during Muybridge's life. There is also a chapter on the Larkyns murder.
