Report of the commission of enquiry into English, organised by the BFI in 1993. The report is subtitled 'balancing literature, language and media in the national curriculum' and the commission was chaired by Mary Warnock and hosted a series of debates on a number of questions on the teaching of English, which included film and media education. Questions included 'What is English For', 'Can English Unite a Fractured Society?', 'Can English Remain a Separate Subject?' and 'Future Visions'. Contributors included Stuart Hall, Farrukh Dhondy, Colin MacCabe and Roger Scruton. The publication was edited by Cary Bazalgette and published by the BFI.
