This artwork by Japanese artist Key Luke that appeared in 'The Sketch' in 1935 contains an optical effect. If the viewer stares at the negative image of Gable on the black background for a minute and then looks at a white space or wall, the eye reverses the image and they will see a positive portrait of Gable superimposed on the space.
