The well-preserved Temple of Luxor was the centre of the most important festival of Thebes, the Festival of Opet. Built largely by kings Amenhotep III and Ramesses II, the temple's purpose is believed to have been as a suitable setting for the festival's rituals. Today, it is a popular tourist destination.
