Set of sixteen 6"x4" colour prints, fitted into a pink Fujicolor wallet, with five hand-written captions in English and Japanese. The first two photos appear to have been taken from a printed guidebook and show diagrams of the peepshow's layout and measurements. Another print in colour matches the black and white illustration on the guidebook's cover and shows the outside of the peepshow at a fair in 1973. Other photographs, taken at this fair, show people enjoying the peepshow and there are also pictures of the individual panels. References are made to the Nakasendo Museum and to the Classic Peepshow at Zhou-Dian in Shanghai. The photographs have been printed from digital files by donor Japense peepshow scholar Mika Sakai, who visited the BDC and gave us this item as a gift in 2009.
