Catalogue from an exhibition of comic art held at the Tate Britain, which used material from the BDC. The art displayed ranges from 17th century political satire and bawdy prints through wartime propaganda and seaside postcards to contemporary photography and more avant-garde forms of visual humour. In addition to the colour plates, there are essays by Paul Gravett on "Frames of Reference: the progress of comics" and Sally O'Reilly on "Bawdy Beautiful" as well as contributions from Tim Batchelor, Cedar Lewisohn and Martin Myrone. Also includes a letter of invitation to Phil Wickham, Curator of the BDC, to attend a drinks reception to mark the opening of the exhibition.
