Programme for Matthew Bourne's production of 'The Red Shoes'

A programme for the premiere of Matthew Bourne's production of 'The Red Shoes', adapted from the Powell and Pressburger film. The ballet uses, instead of the original film score by Brian Easdale, a new score created from the work of composer Bernard Herrman. Herrmann scored almost 50 films, most well-known for his work with Hitchcock on 'North by Northwest', 'Vertigo', and 'Psycho'. Bourne uses pieces of Herrmann's work from 'Citizen Kane', 'The Ghost and Mrs Muir' and 'Farenheit 451' to score the ballet, creating a new dynamic for both the ballet and music. Programme form the Mayflower Theatre, with 'The Red Shoes' running from 21 - 25 March 2017.
