A4 booklet produced by the British Film Institute National Library's Information Service on the film industry in the 1980s using analysis and publication of statistical data. The text, written by Phil Wickham and Erinna Mettler, offers an overview of the period, analysing production; exhibition and the advent of the multiplex; links between television and film, including the influence of Channel 4; the rise of home video and the censorship issues around 'video nasties'. There are profiles of leading companies of the era in Britain: Merchant Ivory, HandMade Films; the BFI Production Board; Channel 4; Goldcrest and Palace Pictures. There is then a full database printed of all the films produced in the UK between 1980 and 1990, listed alphabetically with budget and box office details.
