Phantasmagoria Magic Lantern by "Carpenter & Westley, 24 Regent Street, London". Carpenter and Westley were a leading manufacturer of lanterns and other optical instruments from 1808-1914. This particular magic lantern was specially adapted to the Phantasmagoria in that it has a bend in the chimney, which stops any light from escaping from the lantern, ensuring that the illusion of authenticity is maintained.
