The programme for Bridport's Film Festival, which ran from 13 to 17 April, 2011, and which was curated by the writer Jonathan Coe. Coe introduced a screening of The Innocents, adapted from Henry James's The Turn of the Screw There was a Kazuo Ishiguro season and the Opening Gala was the new adaptation of his novel Never Let Me Go (2010). This screening was accompanied by the author of the novel, Ishiguro, in conversation with Jonathan Coe. Ishiguro also provided an introduction to the screening of The Saddest Music in the World, which was directed by Guy Maddin. Coe also led a discussion with Bill Forsyth accompanying a screening of his film Housekeeping (1987) and introduced further screenings of Barney's Version, Accident, They Were Sisters, and the Coen Brothers version of True Grit Other highlights include director and adapting screenwriter, Rowan Joffe, in discussion following the screening of two of his films: The American and Brighton Rock; a screening of Huston's The Dead, introduced by Corinna Wagner from the University of Exeter and the closing gala of Howl, based on the life of Allen Ginsburg.
