Study of Harry Houdini's campaign to expose fraudulent spiritualists, illustrated with photographs, posters, ticket stubs and diagrams, and including a reproduction of Houdini's 50-slide magic lantern show from 1926 in which he showed audiences some of the tricks used by fake mediums. There are full transcriptions of some of Houdini's speeches on the subject, as well as newspaper correspondence and a bibliography of books and articles. Many of the items illustrated here are from the author's personal collection of Houdini memorabilia, and the book provides insights into the world of spiritualism, escapology, magic tricks, music hall entertainment and magic lantern shows.
