Postcard with colour picture of the Hollywood night sky on premiere night, illuminated with floodlights. On the reverse is a printed message in facsimile handwriting bearing an endorsement of 'The Jolson Story' (1946) by English actress Dame May Whitty (1865-1948), who had moved to Hollywood in 1939: 'I found "The Jolson Story" most interesting. I hope you in England will enjoy this delightful production as much as I have, May Whitty.' The postcard was posted from America to a Mr Shepherd in Middlesex, and bears a 1½ cent stamp.
