Compact and coloured lithograph zoetrope cerca 1910. The images that were contained within it are now displayed alongside it as to show them more effectively and these reels include a girl hitting a shuttlecock up in the air, a man using an anvil and a man bouncing a ball on his feet. The drum itself is adorned with a shiny floral motif with a backdrop of dark lacquer. The zoetrope was invented in 1833 by Simon Stampfer but in 1865 William Ensign Lincoln invented an improved version on which all proceeding models were loosely based while studying as a sophomore at Brown University.
