BFI Southbank January 2018 programme including details of screenings for January. Preview screenings include two TV previews: 'Collateral' with Q&A with David Hare, Carey Mulligan and SJ Clarkson; 'Troy: Fall of a City' with Q&A with actors David Threlfall, Frances O'Connor and Jonas Armstrong, writer David Farr, Executive Producer David Wax and Director Owen Harris. New releases include 'Walk With Me' (2017) and 'The Final Year' (2017). Several screenings programmed for Ingmar Bergman's 'Persona' to celebrate its re-release, including screening with extend introduction by Richard Ayoade. To mark centenary of the birth if Ingmar Bergman there is a season of his films which are separated thematically: A Close-Up: An Introduction; Love, Pain and the Whole Damn Thing; All In The Family. This is part 1 of the Ingmar Bergman season. Member exclusives include screening of 'Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans' (1927) with an introduction from director Hugh Hudson ('Chariots of Fire', 'Revolution') and 'I Know Where I'm Going' with introduction from actress Miranda Robinson. As part of the sonic cinema strand there is a screening of 'Eric Clapton: Life in 12 Bars' with a Q&A with Eric Clapton and director Lili Fini Zanuck and a talk with screen actor and director, Liv Ullman who was both professionally and personally involved with Ingmar Bergman. The programme includes a premiere UK showcase presented by the London Short Film Festival. Included in programmes is a season of John Hurt films reflecting his career in both TV and Film. Screenings include: '10 Rillington Place,' 'The Playboy of the Western World,' 'The Naked Civil Servant,' 'Midnight Express,' 'The Elephant Man,' with a Q&A with producer Jonathan Sanger, 'Love and Death on London Island with a Q&A with director Richard Kwitniowki. Other programme strands includes: Animation 2018, programmed by Justin Johnson and Jez Stewart; Big Screen Classics; African Odysseys which has a screening of 'Felicite' with an intro; a 25th Anniversary screening of 'Bhaji on the Beach' with a q&a with writer-director Gurinda Chadha part of a Woman with a Movie camera strand; BFI Flare; CULT; Experimenta; Mark Kermode Live in 3D; Projecting the Archive and Silent Cinema. There is a section of family-friendly film screenings as part of BFI FAMILIES; FUTURE FILM which are screenings and workshops for 16-25 year olds, BFI courses for adults and matinee screenings and talks for over 60s in Seniors. Part 2: is a pull-out calendar for all films and events at BFI Southbank taking place in January 2018. It also includes details of films coming soon in February 2018, including 'The Shape of Water,' 'Girlfriends,' 'A Passage to India'
