Typed letter with handwritten signature from Laurence Olivier to theatrical bookseller Barry Duncan, dated 16 October 1946 and headed New Theatre - now the Noel Coward Theatre, and almost next door to Duncan's shop, The Thule Theatre Gallery. The brief note states that Olivier has neither the time nor the interest to look at a collection being offered to him by Duncan. The actor was then directing King Lear, in which he also played the lead role. The letter is in its original envelope.
