My Roots are in Heaven. By Gladys Drewery Kendall. A paper ringbound book written by the mother of actress/model, Kay Kendall. Foreword by George. J.Weiss. The book reflects the early stage career of Gladys Kendall as she writes about her earliest memories, what acting meant to her and the effects of World War I & II. The book is not in chronological order, the author frequently intercuts memories from different time periods and includes black and white photos of herself, family and numerous images of Kay Kendall. The book contains mention to personal friends of Kendall including the Duke of Windsor, Prince Bertil of Sweden, Jack Benny, Arthur Treacher and Rex Harrison (her son-in law). The book focuses on her relationship with her children (Terry and Kay). Although the book does make considerable mention to her daughter Kay Kendall, she does not discuss her career or untimely nature of her death, instead she writes of memories she has of her daughter being 'a delightful companion and friend'. The book appears to be self-published, containing no reference to an external publisher.
