Anchoress of Shere was released as Anchoress in 1993. It was written by Judith Stanley Smith and Christine Watkins, it was directed by Chris Newby and it was produced by Paul Breuls. It was screened in the 'Un Certain Regard' section of the 1993 Cannes Film Festival. It concerns a teenage peasant girl who was walled into a Surrey church in 1329, her mystical visions surrounding the Virgin Mary, the Priest who walled her into the Church and the plight of her mother who is condemned as a witch. It was shot in black and white.
