Postcard-sized business card, printed for Dr Duncan Main (1856-1934), a Scottish medical missionary who worked in China, bearing his Edinburgh address and some Chinese characters alongside a Biblical citation (Philippians 4:19) and two short texts: "Fed up, Down and out, The world is all wrong, and everything upside-down" and "Every cloud has its silver lining and you do not need an aeroplane to reach it, so KEEP SMILING." Between the texts is printed an example of the popular "two-faces" optical illusion: a picture of a face that can either appear happy or sad depending on which way up it is turned.
