Spin-off from the original 1933 King Kong novel, that tries to imagine the origins of the creature and the history of Skull Island. Both a prequel and sequel, it provides storylines for the background of Carl Denham's adventure, as well as a later narrative involving his son Vincent Denham, set in 1957. The large-format illustrated novel is the work of artist Joe DeVito and has a preface by Ray Harryhausen.
