This book takes a visual look at the work of Ray Harryhausen, one of the most inventive animators in the history of cinema. Harryhausen was responsible for animating such films as Jason and the Argonauts, Clash of the Titans, and One Million BC. Many of the images in this book are of artefacts that were only very recently found in a garage in Los Angeles, and then serve to give a unique portrait of this filmmaker's creative and technical development, by spanning a period of nearly 70 years, from 1933 to 2002. The book is organised into themed chapters, covering the different genres in which Harryhausen worked, and each film is given a brief introduction, while all the images are explained by detailed captions. There are facsimiles in colour of models, drawings and ephemera from The Ray Harryhausen Collection.
