Max Gülstorff album

Large album of photographs and press-cuttings about German actor Max Gülstorff (1882-1947), along with some loose material including theatre programmes, letters, invitations, personal photographs, telegrams and a family register. Gülstorff's career can be traced through his early performances in provincial theatres, his move to Berlin in 1911, followed by appearances in silent films from 1916 and sound movies from 1931. Film stills, production shots and publicity images are interspersed with candid photos and family portraits. There are theatre reviews from 1911 onwards as well as pages from magazines with pictures and caricatures. Gülstorff worked with many of Germany's best-known actors and directors, and those featured here include Emil Jannings, Werner Krauss, Paul Hartmann, Eugen Burg, Heinz Rühmann, Adele Sandrock, Ida Wust, Conrad Veidt, Max Reinhardt, Renate Müller and Jenny Jugo.
