Companion volume by Steve Wilson to the exhibition at the Harry Ransom Center, Austin, 9 September 2014 - 4 January 2015, commemorating the seventy-fifth anniversary of the release of 'Gone With The Wind.' The exhibition and book adopt a chronological approach through the stages of the film's creation from Spring 1936 to Spring 1940 and present around 600 items from the archives of producer David O. Selznick and his business partner John Hay 'Jock' Whitney, housed at the Harry Ransom Center, University of Texas. The items include on-set photographs, storyboards, correspondence, fan mail and Selznick's own memos, which together provide a detailed picture of the decisions and creative processes that shaped the film.
