Study by Pamela Hutchinson of the 1929 silent film 'Pandora's Box' ('Die Büchse der Pandora'), directed by G. W. Pabst and starring Louise Brooks. Hutchinson focuses on the complex relationship between the director and the star, looks at the film as an adaptation of Frank Wedekind's Lulu plays, analyses the production act by act and devotes separate chapters to the making and cast of the film. Finally, the author contextualises the film both in Weimar Berlin and, after its initial failure, in the 21st century as the production enjoys renewed popularity.
