Gowan's 'Birds and their nests' stereoscope cards

Series of stereoscope cards titled 'Birds and their nests' from Gowan's stereoscopic series, first series. The set contains 60 photographs taken by photographer Riley Fortune. Each photographs shows a different type of bird in their natural habitat and each image is accompanied by a brief description, written in Latin, English, French and German. The instructions on the front of the set state that the cards can be folded back and inserted into any kind of Stereoscope and the back of the set gives the address, dimensions and prices in order to obtain further sets.
