Film still from the 1954 American war drama, 'Betrayed'. Directed by Gottfried Reinhardt, the film starred Clark Gable, Lana Turner, Victor Mature and Louis Calhern. Set in the Nazi-occupied Netherlands during WWII, the film was based on the leader of the Dutch Resistance, Christiaan Lindemans. It was Gable's last film for Metro-Goldywn-Mayer, with whom he had made his most famous film, 'Gone with the Wind'. The film still depicts, who appears to be, Nora Swinburne opposite Victor Mature. Swinburne portrays the mother of Mature's character, "The Scarf", who can be seen slapping the former in the still. On the reverse of the still, Townly suggests that the woman is Lana Turner, not Swinburne, but it's unclear whether this is right. He also notes the year of release and director.
