Programme of events at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles in November 2009. Screenings include a retrospective of academy award winning documentaries from 1998 to 2003 and contemporary documentaries from the current year. There is also a centennial tribute to composer Johnny Mercer, who features on the cover, a screening of a new restoration of 'From Here to Eternity' with a discussion with Ernest Borgnine, the 1937 version of 'The Prisoner of Zenda' and also a celebration of films from 1909, a century earlier, shown from an original projector, including a focus on Mary Pickford. There are also exhibitions on the Art of the movie poster from the Paul Crifo Archive and on Irving Thalberg. Four governors awards are also to be presented to John Calley, Lauren Bacall, Roger Corman and Gordon Willis.
