A programme from BFU Southbank from June 2015. Contains: Previews and Q&A sessions for the television series, 'Humans' and 'The Outcast' and films, 'West', 'Salt of the Earth' and 'Disaster Playground'; a talk with Dame Judi Dench and Sir Richard Eyre; a cult film event screening 'The Toxic Avenger', 'Darkman' and 'Bug'. The programme also features a season on Marilyn Monroe, involving many screenings spanning Monroe's career such as, 'We're Not Married', 'Niagra', 'Gentleman Prefer Blondes', and 'Bus Stop'; also included are two talks on Monroe about her "enduring feminist significance" and "Understanding a Cultural Phenomenon". The season culminates in an extended run of 'The Misfits'. A season on DW Griffith features Kevin Brownlow's documentary 'DW Griffith: Father of Film', a roundtable discussion on 'Birth of a Nation' and screenings of a large body of his work. Part 3 of Dennis Potter's season includes a much of his work with adaptations, several talks and screenings of his work for BBC and Hollywood. The work of African director Abderrahmane Sissako is showcased with his screenings of 'Life on Earth', 'Waiting for Happiness', and 'Bamako'. Also included in the program is the announcement of the new digitization project of 'Britain on Film' for the BFI Mediatheque.
