A Tribute to Sir Michael Redgrave

Programme for an evening performance at the Old Vic theatre, London, on September 1st 1985, a few months after the death of Sir Michael Redgrave. The tribute was given by members of his family, including Vanessa Redgrave, Corin Redgrave and Natasha Richardson, as well as friends such as Julie Walters, Ian McKellen, John Gielgud and Joss Ackland; the programme comprised readings from poems and plays associated with Redgrave's acting career, as well as scenes from his family's history. The programme contains several photographs of Michael Redgrave, with a chronology of his work, an essay on John Gielgud's 1938 season at the Queen's Theatre in which MR received his first real break, a tribute by Vanessa R and the funeral address given by his son Corin. A press review and a pair of tickets are loosely inserted at the back of the programme.
