Sheet music by Metzler & Co. for the song 'Paddy-The-Next-Best-Thing', from the 1923 British silent film of the same name. The film, based on the novel and play by Gertrude Page, was released by Graham Wilcox Productions and directed by Graham Cutts. It starred American actress Mae Marsh and the film centres around the love story of Marsh's Irish tomboy character, Paddy. Marsh is depicted on the front of the sheet music in profile - her red hair and green dressing gown standing out against the background. The music itself, composed by Raymond Loughborough, was released before the film and contains the lyrics written by P.J. O'Reilly, sung by British opera singer, Herbert Langley. The reverse of the sheet music advertises other music by Loughborough and reference to other Irish songs and ballads (the style of which inspired 'Paddy-The-Next-Best-Thing'). The film is considered to be lost.
