The Bill Douglas Cinema Museum is a centre for academic research as well as a public museum.

Items from The Bill Douglas Cinema Museum collections are available for consultation in the Special Collections Reading Room, situated in the Old Library on the entrance level. The reading room is open by appointment from Monday to Friday 10am - 5pm (except Bank Holidays and between Christmas Eve and New Year's Day).  Please give at least 48 hours notice of your visit.

To book an appointment for a research slot in the reading room please fill in this form.

Our catalogue can be searched by going to the 'Explore the Collection' pages. You can then contact us with details of the items you would like to see by email. The catalogue has a function to create a collection - just click the 'Add to my Collection' link by each item you would like to see. You will be asked to save your collection and when you do so a weblink is generated. Cut and paste this link and email it to us.  Alternatively for a single item please quote the item number (for example #23651) that is found with each catalogue entry.

Send your collection to [email protected], also reminding us of the time you hope to arrive at the Special Collections Reading Room. We will only get back to you if there is a problem, otherwise assume that material requested will be ready for you at the appointment time you requested.

Please email requests in advance to [email protected] or phone 01392 724321.
