Press book for the release of Franz Osten and Himansu Rai's 'Light of Asia' (1926), a silent German-Indian adaptation of Edwin Arnold's 1861 epic poem of the life of Buddha. The film stars Himansu Rai as Guatama and Seeta Devi as Gopa. It was highly successful in both India and Germany and celebrated as a picture of 'real' India that signified a break from British Colonial depictions of the Orient.
