Peep Shows and Optical Toys catalogue

This catalogue, produced by Marlborough Rare Books Ltd,lists a vast number of optical, pre-cinema toys and peep shows, including a concertina-folding peepshow of the Coronation of Queen Victoria in 1838, which reveals the view of the coronation, when fully extended. There are also items of pre-cinema equipment, such as 'The Cinematograph-Toy which, when the handle is cranked, shows a moving image by quickly flicking through a set of cards.
