December 1933 release script titled "The Little Damozel" by Donovan Pedelty based on the original 1908 play of the same name by Monckton Hoffe, which was previously filmed in 1916 as a silent film. Donovan Pedelty (1903–1989) was a British journalist, screenwriter and film director. During the 1930s, Pedelty specialised in making quota quickies with Irish themes. Herbert Sydney Wilcox CBE (19 April 1890 – 15 May 1977) was a British film producer and director. He was one of the most successful British filmmakers from the 1920s to the 1950s. He is best known for the films he made with his third wife Anna Neagle. The film was produced in 1933. It is a 1933 British romance film directed by Herbert Wilcox and starring Anna Neagle, James Rennie and Benita Hume. The plot follows Gambler Recky Poole who accepts a bet to marry Julie Alardy, a nightclub danseuse. After the wedding, Recky unexpectedly falls in love with her, but Julia decides to divorce him and go back to dancing. A despairing Recky contemplates suicide, contriving to make it look like an accident so that Julia will be able to collect the insurance. Luckily, she returns to him before it is too late, and they live a life of wedded bliss.
